Apply these settings in the first ten minutes after you create your GMGN account. Each one comes from GMGN's own documentation and from the fee math in our GMGN fees guide. Done in order, they remove the most common reasons new traders lose money before their first good trade.
1. Sign up through the referral link
Open gmgn.ai/r/aiapp20 and log in with Telegram. The code is applied automatically; you never need to type it. Your fee stays at GMGN's standard 1% per buy and sell, with no markup, and GMGN pays this site a share of its own fee. GMGN does not publish a fee discount for referred users, so any site promising one is guessing. Use one login method and stick with it: Telegram and Phantom logins create separate accounts that do not merge.
2. Turn on Google Authenticator before you deposit
Settings → Security → bind Google Authenticator. Withdrawals are impossible without it, and binding later adds a 24-hour hold if you ever re-bind. Then whitelist the external wallet you will withdraw to. The first whitelist triggers a 3-hour hold, so do it now rather than when you need the money. Details: GMGN withdrawal guide.
3. Set the priority fee by trade size, not by default
GMGN's default of 0.006 SOL is tuned for automated orders. For manual trades on a quiet chain, 0.002 to 0.003 SOL fills fine and costs a third as much. On a 0.1 SOL trade, that single change moves your on-chain cost from 6% to 2% per leg.
| Trade size | Priority fee to start with | On-chain cost per leg |
|---|---|---|
| 0.1 SOL | 0.002 SOL | 2% |
| 0.5 SOL | 0.003 SOL | 0.6% |
| 1 SOL and above | 0.004 to 0.006 SOL | 0.4 to 0.6% |
| Limit, TP/SL and copy orders | 0.006 SOL | varies |
Raise it during congestion; lower it again afterwards.
4. Slippage: Auto for manual trades, 30 to 35% for automation
Leave slippage on Auto for manual buys of tokens that already have a pool. Use 30 to 35% for limit, take-profit and stop-loss orders, and 50% or more only on brand-new launches. A trade that reverts on slippage (error C1) still burns your gas and priority fee.
5. Anti-MEV on, with the minimum tip
Anti-MEV needs at least 0.002 SOL priority fee plus a 0.0001 SOL tip. Keep it on for anything above a few dollars; sandwich bots took a measurable share from GMGN users before Anti-MEV shipped in July 2025.
6. Keep 0.05 SOL in reserve
Never spend the last 0.05 SOL in the wallet. It covers rent and gas, and prevents the "exceeds wallet balance" and B1 errors that block sells at the worst moment.
7. Read the security panel before every buy
Mint disabled, no blacklist, LP burned, top 10 holders under 30%, dev status, honeypot, snipers and bundlers, rug history. Eight checks, under a minute. Our phishing check guide explains each field.
8. Size positions for the fee math
With 1% per leg plus priority fees, a 0.1 SOL copy trade needs about 14% to break even; a 1 SOL position needs about 3.2%. Trade sizes where a realistic move covers the cost, or use the wallet tracker to watch a strategy before copying it.
9. Sweep profits to a wallet you control
GMGN wallets are hosted and private keys cannot be exported. Keep trading capital in GMGN and move profits out through the whitelisted address on a schedule. See is GMGN safe for the full custody picture.
